Panoramic Route

Your last morning game viewing drive ends at one of Kruger Parks exit gates. On leaving Kruger Park, on your homeward bound journey, you enjoy South Africa's 'Panoramic Route' driving through the Northern Drakensberg Mountains.

These mountains are perhaps the most spectacular of all the scenic wonders of Africa. The highlight is the Blyde River Canyon (world's 3rd biggest canyon) which towers above the canyon floor in sheer vertical cliffs of orange ochre soaring to 700 meters above the Blyde River. Beneath the cliffs the mountains appear to be swathed in bolts of luscious green cloth cascading into the dark blue waters of the gorge below.

En-route you will stop for a surprise breakfast at Graskop and then go on to spend a few minutes at God's Window, Worlds View, Berlin Falls, Blyde River Canyon, the Three Rondavels and if there is sufficient time, visit Pilgrims Rest; which is an old gold mining town and is now a national monument!

At each of the scenic stops you have the opportunity to finish off your film and to barter for locally crafted curios.

Note

It's a 4 hour drive back to Johannesburg from Pilgrims Rest. You will be dropped off at any hotel in Jo'burg or at Jo'burg's Oliver Tambo Int Airport, at approx 6.00pm.

As the Northern Drakensberg Mountains are next door to Kruger Park; we always include driving through this region on the way back to Jo'burg or Pretoria. We are unable to include the Panoramic Route with you flying out from KMIA, MQP or HDS.
