For successful and enjoyable on road
open vehicle game viewing drives your Safari Ranger will drive
you to areas of the Kruger Park, where the game is concentrated at that
time. With all your 'open vehicle' game
viewing drives, you will travel relaxed and with excellent visibility
ensured, your on road open vehicle game viewing drives will be maximised.
One of the more
productive times
to enjoy game viewing is first thing in the morning before
the heat of the day kicks in. After a few hours of early morning
game viewing your Safari Ranger will stop for breakfast.
After breakfast the game
viewing drive will continue by either returning back to camp
via another route or continue on to your second camp in
time for checking in and lunch.
After lunch you
may wish to stay at camp and siesta instead of continuing on with
the game viewing drive into the afternoon. Although the heat
minimises animal movement it is always worth going on a game
viewing drive after lunch. Sometimes it's nice to park up at a waterhole and wait patiently to see what animals come to drink. You never know what you might see!
Late afternoon is another
productive time for game viewing as the day starts to cool down
ensuring further
animal movement. Finally you return back to camp to join
up with the others who had a siesta; either in time for your open night game drive or
before the camp gates close for the night.
In reality you'll find yourself more than likely travelling
around most of the day.
You will travel along the parks
road network, both tarmac and gravel roads in an open vehicle,
purely designed for a more open viewing experience.
Your Safari Ranger knows the Kruger Park inside
out and upside down. With the years of experience gained operating
each day in the park, you will travel through the some of the
best game viewing areas, stopping off at the numerous waterhole's
and checking river lines, searching for as many animals as possible:
more than just the Big Five.
Approximately 145 mammal species occur in the
park. Large carnivores include Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Wild Dog
and Spotted Hyena. You will also spend time viewing herds of animals
- Elephant, Buffalo, Zebra, Giraffe, Impala, Kudu and Waterbuck.
There are also many smaller mammals all of which are equally exciting.
For 'close up' photographs your Safari Ranger
will approach the animals as close as possible without placing
you in any danger or the animals under any stress.
Your Safari Ranger will stop off at different
picnic spots and rest camps when driving around; to top up
the vehicles cooler box with further refreshments as well as taking
the opportunity to freshen up at the toilet facilities, to have
a stretch or a cigarette.
With your Safari Ranger you will experience
great game viewing in open vehicles, on any of our open vehicle safaris.

Note
For Kruger Park it's not recommended to embark
(outside of concession areas) on morning and afternoon game drives for a few hours at a time.
That's why with our open vehicle game drives we offer 'all day'
game drives.
We are flexible in the number of hours
driving around the park especially when it comes to families
with very young children.
